How I Can Help
I offer professional hands-on non-invasive physical treatment and collaboratively-based general counseling for a wide variety of neurological, muscular, and skeletal disorders under a personalized case management model. This approach is unique in its orientation to individual client-centered needs and comprehensive scope; and is based on decades of multidisciplinary scientific research and highly effective clinical skills. This approach includes the biological, psychological, social, and environmental aspects of health recovery, optimization, and maintenance. I welcome you as an individual with a unique history and highly specific needs, not as an imaginary member of a generic "normative" population.
Many of my clients have had complex and disabling health conditions and/or the chronic effects of injuries, often arising from recent or historical car accidents, sporting or recreational mishaps, slips and falls, and/or episodes of over-exertion. Some clients have had injuries at work or elsewhere that have impeded their return to work or ability to maintain steady gainful employment. Most of my clients see me in order to engage in a scientific and systems-based non-invasive clinical option to traditional medical, allied health, or "complementary and alternative" (CAM) health care. I often see clients who have a desire for maintenance through regularly scheduled or occasional "tune-ups", without cumbersome referrals and delays, especially following common stress-and-strain or other minor injuries.
My clinical practice is comprised of two major domains. The case management portion is based on a comprehensive early-intervention coordinated services model, and the hands-on portion is based on over half a century of advances in the research on, and clinical delivery of, somatosensory-motor therapies. I also fulfill related roles including healthcare educator, fitness advisor, cognitive-behavioral therapist, resource counselor, and/or business & vocational consultant as required by my clients' current needs and long-term goals. I offer on-site safety and ergonomic consulting for individuals and employers, and at-home treatments for clients who cannot visit due to their physical limitations.
I am interested in results that matter to you. I welcome you as an individual with a unique history and highly specific needs, a complex human being living in an equally complicated world.

I am committed to serving you from an original and innovative approach based on the most relevant and up-to-date theories, strongest available scientific evidence, most effective clinical practices, and highest ethical standards. You have uniquely individual needs, goals, and circumstances which may not be adequately addressed by conventional medical practices, allied medical services, or "complementary" or "alternative" (CAM) options to conventional care. While I make no blanket claims of any "cure", as each individual is highly unique, my treatment model is both flexible and specifically targeted toward alleviating many common problems associated with chronic, recurrent, and episodic pain and movement-related functional limitations over a wide variety and combination of health conditions.
Many of my clients have already seen a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional practitioners with very mixed results. Some therapies may work better than others for specific individuals and conditions, while others may be of limited value, a waste of time and resources, or even harmful. Each practice has its effective scope, and is therefore limited regarding expected results. Scientific evidence bears this out; there may be short-term novelty, anticipatory, or placebo effects in play, which may provide only temporary or illusory relief. One-size-fits-all procedures are often based more on tradition or watered-down population studies, and may waste your resources (time and money), delay recovery, and raise your risk for long-term disability and other complications. Certain complementary approaches can provide better results for some individuals, therefore I will never suggest that you disengage from any sensible and effective care you are already receiving. My aim is to help you put these therapeutic alternatives in perspective, and to use them wisely and economically.
My approach to treatment is unique, and fills a long-neglected and critical niche in the scientifically-based healthcare arena.
I have spent most of my academic and working life exploring both conventional and CAM options for pain-related conditions, both as a consumer and as a professional. So maybe I can help you, with a unique, non-invasive, and scientifically-based approach to pain that has helped where conventional and CAM therapies have not. And, even if you determine that my approach doesn't match, I can help you sort out your options based on your individual needs and preferences.
As an advanced-degree professional in rehabilitation case management and services coordination, I am qualified to review your health care history, discuss your current concerns, help you to understand and explore your options, and make the best choices possible.
I am working to keep you working!
About Rehabilitation:
The term "rehabilitation" is used widely across the domains of health & human services to describe a 'part' of what rehabilitation is as a 'whole'. We often see and hear the term applied to medical services, physical & occupational therapy clinics, chiropractic practices, skilled nursing facilities, exercise and fitness centers, psychological services, special education programs, vocational services, substance abuse programs, and other disciplines. This fragmented usage can lead to some confusion regarding the meaning and implications of the term.
The orientation of my practice originates from, and is maintained by, the integrated concept of 'total rehabilitation', which covers the entire living context of human experience, focusing on enabling purposeful, practical, and optimal outcomes pertaining to occupational, recreational, and daily living activities. The field of rehabilitation and disability services is the only health & human services profession which includes these targeted long-term person-environment outcomes.
My earned professional graduate (Master of Science) and terminal (Certificate of Advanced Study) degrees reflect rigorous and extensive academic training, research, and fieldwork expertise in the whole of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation is multidisciplinary, and includes a composite of many inter-related areas of study, including but not limited to:
Biology
Cognitive Science
Cross-Cultural Studies
Economics & Health Policy
Education
Human Development
Industrial & Labor Studies
Law & Politics
Medicine
Neuroscience
Psychology
Social Work
Vocational Rehabilitation
